19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents his maiden championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.
He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.
He defended 4 initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
